ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Rowan University women’s outdoor track and field team competed at the Navy Invitational on Saturday.  The Profs were sixth in the team scoring against Division I schools.

Jena Peacock (sr. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) ran 4:44.16 in the 1500 meters for second place.  Melissa Lake (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) took third in the javelin with a throw of 120’ 5” (36.70 meters).  Jessica Carlson (so. Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Reg.) finished third in the triple jump.  She leaped 35’ 3.25” (10.75 meters).  Carlson also had a sixth place (15.62) in the 100 meter hurdles and was 19th (27.67) in the 200 meters.     

The 4x400 meter relay came in third with a time of 4:03.00.  The relay included Vanessa Wright (so. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.), Alexus Streater (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown), Brianna Streater (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) and Melirah Searcy (fr. Edison, NJ/Edison).  Wright took fourth (2:17.02) in the 800 meters while Searcy was fourth (1:07.17) in the 400 meter hurdles.  Magan Kustera (so. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) had a fifth place in the high jump with 5’ 1” (1.55 meters) and Sam Kamper (so. Middletown, NJ/Middletown N.) was 10th (4’ 9”, 1.45 meters).  Danielle Czohla (sr. Lafayette, NJ/High Point Reg.) finished fifth (11:29.01) in the 3000 meter steeplechase. 

Jenn Rawls (jr. Runnemede, NJ/Highland Reg.) came in sixth (4:50.92) in the 1500 meters and 18th (2:27.15) in the 800 meters.  Jamie Thompson (so. Monmouth Jct., NJ/South Brunswick) had an eighth place (1:08.47) in the 400 meter hurdles.  Tashay Wilson (fr. Hillside, NJ/Hillside) finished ninth (1:00.02) in the 400 meters and Shantel Beckford (fr. Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) was 10th (13.02) in the 100 meters.  In the 100 meter hurdles, Thompson finished 11th (17.04) followed by Francesca Contino (jr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) 12th (17.41) and Christine Taruc (fr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Mem.) 15th (19.80).  Brianna Streater took 15th (4:58.28) in the 1500 meters and Alexus Streater was 16th (2:24.66) in the 800 meters (2:24.66).     

In the hammer, Jess Lomonaco (so. Blackwood, NJ/Triton Reg.) came in eighth with 143’ 6” (43.74 meters), which was a school record.  The old mark was 130’ 0” (39.64 meters) by Phalicia Mason in 1995.  Emily Spieker (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) followed in 10th place (130’ 1”, 39.64 meters).  Lomonaco also had a 12th place in the discus (102’ 2”, 31.15 meters).  Tempeste Johnson (sr. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.) took 10th in the discus with a throw of 105’ 8” (32.22 meters).  Steph Greco (jr. Monmouth Jct., NJ/South Brunswick) finished 14th (104’ 7”, 31.89 meters) in the hammer and 19th (28’ 3.50”, 8.62 meters) in the shot put.  Arielle Moore (so. Blackwood, NJ/Highland Reg.) was 15th in the shot put with 31’ 8.75” (9.67 meters).     

Next week, Rowan travels to Widener University on Saturday, March 31 for the Danny Curran Invitational at 9 a.m.
