WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Rowan University’s Jena Peacock won the 3000-meter steeplechase at the Wake Forest Open on Friday.  The two-day meet continues on Saturday and includes teams from Division I, III and III.

Peacock (sr. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) ran a time of 11:01.79.  Vanessa Wright (so. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) took seventh place (2:15.61) in the 800 meters.  In the 10,000 meters, Grace Kaler (so. Parisppany, NJ/Parisppany Hills) finished fourth (38:22.35) and Meghan Borz (so. Buena, NJ/Buena Reg.) was 10th (39:57.97). 

Danielle Czohla (sr. Lafayette, NJ/High Point Reg.) came in 10th (11:57.94) in the 3000-meter steeplechase.  Jessica Carlson (so. Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Reg.) was 29th (33’ 7.5”, 10.25 meters) in the triple jump and 34th (16.21) in the 100 meter hurdles.  Tiffany Chamberlain (jr. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.) took 31st place (16.12) in the 100 meter hurdles.   

In the hammer, Emily Spieker (so. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and Jess Lomonaco (so. Blackwood, NJ/Triton Reg.) were 32nd (124’ 8”, 37.99 meters) and 35th (117’ 4”, 35.77 meters) respectively.  Melirah Searcy (fr. Edison, NJ/Edison) finished 35th (59.39) in the 400 meters and Tashay Wilson (fr. Hillside, NJ/Hillside) was 42nd (59.78).  Shantel Beckford (fr. Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) was 38th (32’ 2”, 9.80 meters) in the triple jump and 39th (12.69) in the 100 meters.   

On Saturday, the field events start at 9:30 a.m. and the running events begin at 10 a.m. at the Wake Forest Open.
