GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men’s swim team won 145-108 over Swarthmore College on Saturday in a nonconference meet.
The Profs have a 5-3 record while the Garnet is 3-1 overall. Rowan came in first in the 200 medley relay (1:41.93) with Larry Dow (jr. Alexandria, VA/T.C. Williams), Tyler Coe (fr. North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick Twp.), Tim Dimond (sr. Allentown, PA/Emmaus) and Ben Cain (so. Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit). Coe, Pat Malone (jr. Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic), Patrick Myers (fr. Kennett Square, PA/Kennett) and Joe Licwinko (so. Kenilworth, NJ/David Brearley) made up the winning (3:19.35) 400 freestyle relay.
Malone was the winner in the 50 (21.44) and 100 (47.31) freestyles. He also had a first place (52.41) in the 100 butterfly. Dow took first in the 200 backstroke (2:00.40) and 200 individual medley (2:02.08). He was second (56.73) in the 100 backstroke.
Zac Wister (so. Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) took first in the 500 (4:55.51) and 1000 (10:11.07) freestyles. Dimond won the 200 freestyle (1:47.08) and was second (22.73) in the 50 free. Coe swam 59.87 in the 100 breaststroke for first place. He also won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:15.34.
Brad Hawkins (jr. Millville, NJ/Cumberland Reg.) finished first (56.52) in the 100 backstroke. Licwinko took second (50.94) in the 100 freestyle and Kyle Surette (fr. Martinsville, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) had a third place (1:48.99) in the 200 free.
Next, Rowan will swim at the Swarthmore Invitational on Friday and Saturday, November 30 and December 1.
