Men's Cross Country Finishes 10th At NCAA Atlantic Regional

ROCHESTER, NY – The Rowan University men’s cross country team finished 10th at the NCAA Atlantic Regional on Saturday.  There were 44 teams competing at the regional that was held at Genesee Valley Park.

Jon Sewnig (so. Yardville, NJ/Notre Dame) took 13th place out of 297 runners.  He had a time of 25:54.4 over the 8K course.  Sewnig qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships that will be held on Saturday, November 17 in Terre Haute, IN.  The top seven regional finishers not on an advancing team qualify for the national championships

Mike Carotenuto (sr. Port Monmouth, NJ/Middletown N.) came in 34th (26:17.2) while Jeff Tauriello (jr. Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park) and Tim Dole (fr. Mantua, NJ/Clearview Reg.) were 70th (26:53.7) and 77th (26:57.9) respectively.  Ethan Wolmark (jr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) was the Profs’ fifth runner to score.  He was 84th overall (27:06.4).

Raj Singh (so. Parsippany, NJ/Parisppany Hills) finished 182nd (28:33.8) and Rob Buzby (so. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) was 203rd (28:58.6). 

New York University won the team title (50 points) while SUNY Geneseo was second (59 points).  Both schools qualified for the NCAA Championships.  The individual champion was Geneseo’s Alex Brimstein with a time of 25:14.4.

The at-large teams and individual selections for the NCAAs will be announced on Sunday, November 11 on the web at www.ncaa.com.  The national cross country championships will be held at the LaVern Gibson Course.  The men’s race is at 11 a.m. followed by the women at noon.
