GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men’s swim team defeated Cabrini College, 103-62 in a nonconference meet on Thursday evening.
The Profs improve to 2-3, while the Cavaliers have a 1-4 record. Rowan won the 200 medley (1:41.29) and 200 freestyle (1:30.81) relays. The medley relay consisted of Kyle Surette (fr. Martinsville, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan), Patrick Myers (fr. Kennett Square, PA/Kennett), Tim Dimond (sr. Allentown, PA/Emmaus) and Ben Cain (so. Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit). Cain, Mike Demarest (jr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami), Dimond and Larry Dow (jr. Alexandria, VA/T.C. Williams) made up the freestyle relay.
Rowan won all nine individual events. Pat Malone (jr. Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) was the winner in the 50 freestyle (21.74) and 100 butterfly (52.41). Tyler Coe (fr. North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick Twp.) captured first in the 100 freestyle (50.36) and 100 breaststroke (1:01.55). Dimond and Dow took first in the 200 freestyle (1:49.54) and 200 individual medley (2:00.82) respectively.
Surette finished first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.03. In the 500 freestyle, Connor Buck (fr. Eastampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley Reg.) was first in 5:06.91. Ryan Wintermute (so. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) came in first in the 1000 freestyle (11:26.22).
Rowan travels to Misericordia University on Saturday, November 3 for a 2 p.m. meet.
