WEST POINT, NY  – The Rowan University men’s swimming and diving team competed at Division I Army on Friday evening.  It was the Profs’ first meet of the season.  The men also swam against Boston College. 

The final scores were: Army 183, Rowan 106 and Boston College 203, Rowan 90.  The Profs’ Max Tyburski (sr. Burke, VA/Lake Braddock Secondary) won the 50 (21.52) and 100 (47.34) freestyles.  Larry Dow (jr. Alexandria, VA/T.C. Williams) had a winning time of 52.68 in the 100 backstroke.

The 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays finished second with times of 1:36.21 and 3:14.92 respectively.  The medley relay consisted of Dow, Tyler Coe (fr. North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick Twp.), Tim Dimond (sr. Allentown, PA/Emmaus) and Tyburski.  The free relay was made up of Tyburski, Dow, Dimond and Pat Malone (jr. Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic).

Dimond took third (54.36) in the 100 butterfly and sixth (1:47.64) in the 200 freestyle.  Malone had a third place (2:03.94) in the 200 individual medley.  He was also seventh (2:05.31) in the 200 butterfly and eighth (2:07.64) in the 200 backstroke.  Coe came in sixth in the 100 (1:00.85) and 200 (2:20.32) breaststrokes.   

In the 1000 freestyle, Zac Wister (so. Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) finished seventh (10:38.18) followed by Connor Buck (fr. Eastampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley Reg.), eighth (10:45.31).  Wister came in ninth (5:09.73) in the 500 freestyle.  Brad Hawkins (jr. Millville, NJ/Cumberland Reg.) took sixth (57.28) in the 100 backstroke and Kyle Surrette (fr. Martinsville, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) was seventh (2:05.42) in the 200 backstroke.  Jerry Johnson (fr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) came in eighth in the one meter diving with 137.40 points and Killian O’Gorman (fr. Short Hills, NJ/Millburn) was ninth (110 points).  Joe Licwinko (so. Kenilworth, NJ/David Brearley) had a ninth place (51.73) in the 100 free.

Next, Rowan travels to Baltimore, MD for a meet at Johns Hopkins University on Friday, October 20 at 11 a.m.
