GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men’s soccer team won 4-1 over Kean University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Saturday afternoon.
The Profs improve to 8-7-2 overall and 3-4-1 in the conference. The Cougars have a 9-8 record with a 4-3 NJAC mark. Rowan was ahead 1-0 after the first half. Midfielder Ryan Gordon (sr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) scored at 18:30 with an assist from back Jared Mangone (sr. Princeton Jct., NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro N.). Gordon’s shot hit the left side of the Cougars’ net.
In the second period, forward Christian Fountain (so. Fredericksburg, VA/Stafford) registered the second goal at 49:41. He knocked in a rebound after forward Julian Berrios’ (sr. Lakewood, NJ/Calvary Academy) shot was saved by goalie John Londono (sr. West New York, NY/Memorial). At 63:46, midfielder Connor Moggat (fr. Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) scored with a pass from Berrios. Midfielder Parker Oris (so. Bayville, NJ/Central Reg.) headed in a cross by Gordon for the fourth goal at 73:44. Kean’s goal one minute later came on a penalty kick by forward Erickson Simeon (so. Port-au-Prince, Haiti/Manchester Reg.).
The Profs totaled 17 shots while the Cougars had 14. Rowan goalkeeper Michael Fanz-Huster (sr. Waterford, NJ/Hammonton) stopped nine shots. Londono ended the game with five saves.
Rowan plays its last home game of the regular season against Medgar Evers College on Monday, October 22 at 7 p.m.
