Women's Volleyball Defeats Ramapo College, 3-0

MAHWAH, NJ  – The Rowan University women’s volleyball team defeated Ramapo College, 3-0 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) match on Thursday night.  The set scores were 25-22, 25-13 and 25-16.

The Profs are 20-8 overall and 6-1 in the conference.  The Roadrunners have a 12-13 record with a 2-5 NJAC mark.  Outside hitter/middle blocker Danielle Havlicek (fr. Midland Park, NJ/Midland Park) led the way with 11 kills and a .360 hitting percentage.  Outside hitter Katie Havlicek (sr. Midland Park, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) and outside hitter/middle blocker Dakota Oeskovic (jr. Pine Beach, NJ/Toms River S.) each chipped in with nine kills.  In addition, Katie Havlicek totaled 11 digs and six service aces.

Outside hitter/middle blocker Morgan Mende (fr. Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) contributed with eight kills and three blocks.  Setter Nicole Ciandella (jr. Hoboken, NJ/Roselle Catholic) collected 38 assists.  Libero Lauren Ruffalo (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) registered nine digs while defensive specialist Marissa Micciche (jr. Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) and Danielle Havlicek added seven and six digs respectively.

For Ramapo, middle blocker Sara Pendleton (so. Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) totaled nine kills and outside hitter Cathryn Smart (fr. Princeton Jct., NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro S.) followed with eight.  Setter Kaitlin Mac Iver (fr. Hillsdale, NJ/Pascack Valley) compiled 22 assists.  Outside hitter Catherine Kilduff (fr. New Milford, NJ/Paramus Catholic) tallied six aces and seven digs.  Outside hitter/defensive specialist Brittney Jemas (so. Randolph, NJ/Randolph) had seven digs. 

Next week, Rowan hosts conference opponent New Jersey City University on Thursday, October 25 at 7 p.m.  It is the Profs’ annual “Dig Pink” match for breast cancer awareness.
