GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women’s volleyball team had a 3-0 shutout over Valley Forge Christian College in a nonconference match on Wednesday night. The set scores were 25-10, 25-7 and 25-10.
The Profs improve to 17-6, while the Patriots have a 2-16 record. Rowan has won eight straight matches and 13 of its last 14. Outside hitter Katie Havlicek (sr. Midland Park, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy), outside hitter/middle blocker Elaina Hansen (jr. Monroe Twp., NJ/Monroe Twp.) and outside hitter/middle blocker Krissy Collins (jr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) all had four kills. Collins added eight digs. Setter Nicole Ciandella (jr. Hoboken, NJ/Roselle Catholic) dished nine assists. Outside hitter/middle blocker Sarah Hanrahan (so. Montvale, NJ/Pascack Hills) and libero Lauren Ruffalo (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) compiled nine digs apiece.
For Valley Forge Christian, middle blocker Amanda Compton (so. Newark, DE/Elkton Christian Academy) posted four kills. Setter Carli Kile (so. Minneapolis, MN/Old Mill) collected six assists. Outside hitter Kayleigh Smith (fr. Douglasville, PA/Daniel Boone) and libero Courtney Farabee (jr. Waynesburg, PA/Waynesburg Central) contributed with seven and six digs respectively.
Rowan travels to Aston, PA for the Knights Fall Classic on Friday-Saturday, October 12-13. On Friday, the Profs face host Neumann University at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the women’s volleyball team plays Ursinus College at 10 a.m. and Franklin & Marshall College at 2 p.m.
