COLLEGEVILLE, PA – The Rowan University men’s indoor track team won the Collegeville Classic at Ursinus College on Friday night. The Prof women finished second out of 15 teams.
The men’s team totaled 94 points among 14 teams, while the women collected 92 points. The men’s distance medley relay of Mike Carotenuto (jr. Port Monmouth, NJ/Middletown N.), Phil Guilford (fr. Atlantic City, NJ/Buena Reg.), Mike Lewis (fr. Glen Mills, PA/Downingtown W.) and Eric DuBois (sr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) had a winning time of 10:29.58. Rowan also captured first place in the women’s distance medley relay (12:57.29) with Samantha Stapleton (so. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown), Christina Huynh (jr. Lake Hiawatha, NJ/Parsippany), Alexus Streater (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) and Ashlee Hitchner (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Delsea Reg.).
Demetrius Rooks (jr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) was the winner in the men’s 400 meters (49.91). Carotenuto took first in the one mile (4:23.42), followed by DuBois, fourth (4:26.44). Rob Rawls (fr. Runnemede, NJ/Triton Reg.) had a first place in the 3000 meters (8:55.48). Adam Diekewicz (so. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) came in first in the pole vault with a height of 13’ 11.25” (4.25 meters).
For the women, Jena Peacock (sr. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) finished first in the 800 (2:23.45) and 3000 (10:21.89) meters. Jamie Thompson (so. Monmouth Jct., NJ/South Brunswick) won the long jump with a distance of 17’ 0.5” (5.19 meters). She was also eighth in the 60 meter hurdles (9.64).
The men’s 4x200 (1:34.91) and 4x400 (3:25.37) meter relays both captured second place. The 4x200 team included Josh McGriff (jr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.), Brandon Taylor (jr. Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown), Taylor Purdue (jr. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.) and Ali Ejaz (so. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro). Guilford, Purdue, Ejaz and Rooks comprised the 4x400 relay.
Joe Mineo (jr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) tied for second in the high jump with 6’ 2” (1.88 meters). Jayce Maxwell (sr. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) was third in the 200 meters (23.18) and eighth in the 60 meters (7.30). Frank Visconti (jr. Berlin, NJ/Eastern Reg.) finished fifth in the shot put with a throw of 43’ 5.75” (13.25 meters). Taylor had a 10th place in the 60 meter dash (7.36).
In the 3000 meters, Jeff Tauriello (so. Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park), Stephen Hoffman (sr. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) and Ethan Wolmark (so. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) were seventh (9:13.79), eighth (9:14.07) and 10th (9:19.53) respectively. Jesse Spector (fr. Rockaway, NJ/Morris Hills) captured 13th in the 800 meters (2:05.56). In the long jump, Shehab Uddin (so. Brooklawn, NJ/Gloucester City) and Jack Curry (so. Roosevelt, NJ/Hightstown) took seventh (19’ 7.5”, 5.98 meters) and 12th (17’ 11.75”, 5.48 meters) respectively. Curry also had a ninth place in the triple jump with 38’ 3.5” (11.67 meters).
The women’s 4x400 meter relay of Stapleton, Melirah Searcy (fr. Edison, NJ/Edison), Huynh and Brianna Streater (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) came in third with a time of 4:13.50. The 4x200 meter relay took fifth in 1:51.85. The team included Thompson, Shantel Beckford (fr. Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway), Tashay Wilson (fr. Hillside, NJ/Hillside) and Kayla Leahey (so. Keansburg, NJ/Warwick Valley).
Vanessa Wright (so. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) had third places in the 800 (2:25.7) and 3000 (10:32.05) meters. Jenn Rawls (jr. Runnemede, NJ/Highland Reg.) and Sammar Abueldoleh (fr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) were fourth (10:42.72) and fifth (10:47.77) respectively in the 3000 meters. Leahey captured third in the pole vault with a height of 9’ 6.25” (2.90 meters). Beckford finished third in the triple jump (34’ 9.75”, 10.61 meters) and 10th in the 60 meter dash (8.25).
In the one mile, Ashley White (jr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford), Brianna Streater and Brenda Mendez (fr. Glassboro, NJ/Delsea Reg.) were sixth (5:44.00), seventh (5:44.11) and 11th (5:50.81) respectively. Joy Hanke (jr. Cranford, NJ/Cranford) took ninth in the 300 meters with a time of 11:33.58. Searcy came in ninth in the 400 meters (1:02.74). Tiffany Chamberlain (jr. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.) was 11th in the 60 meter hurdles (9.76).
Magan Kustera (so. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) captured sixth in the high jump (4’ 11.75”, 1.52 meters), while Sam Kamper (so. Middletown, NJ/Middletown N.) was 12th (4’ 7.75”, 1.42 meters). Jess Lomanaco (so. Blackwood, NJ/Triton Reg.) had a ninth place in the shot put with a toss of 34’ 9.75” (10.61 meters). Francesco Contino (jr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) finished 12th in the long jump with 13’ 7.75” (4.16 meters).
