GALLOWAY, NJ – The Richard Stockton College women’s volleyball team defeated Rowan University, 3-0 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) match on Thursday night.
The set scores were 25-13, 25-10 and 25-18. The Ospreys improve to 7-2 overall, while the Profs have a 4-1 record. It was the first conference match for both teams.
Richard Stockton was led by middle hitter Stephanie Warner (jr. Totowa, NJ/Passaic Valley) with 11 kills and four blocks. Outside hitter Christine Velott (sr. Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) added seven kills and nine digs. Libero Ashley Gubista (fr. Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) posted 20 digs. Setter Laura Hausman (sr. Bethlehem, PA/Catasauqua) dished 18 assists and setter Mayan Alvarado (so. Gainesville, FL/P.K. Yonge) had 11. Hausman also had three service aces.
For Rowan, middle blocker Nikki Binetti (so. Brick, NJ/Brick Twp.) registered six kills and two blocks. Outside hitters/middle blockers Krissy Collins (so. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) and Sarah Hanrahan (fr. Montvale, NJ/Pascack Hills) had four kills apiece. Libero Lauren Ruffalo (so. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) produced seven digs. Setter Kelsey Donovan (so. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) tallied 10 assists and nine digs. Setter Brooke Hassan (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) collected eight assists and five digs.
Rowan plays Montclair State University in a NJAC match on Tuesday, September 20 at 7 p.m. The match will be held at RiverWinds Community Center in West Deptford, NJ.
