Peacock Finishes 16th in 3000 Meter Steeplechase at NCAA Track & Field Championships

DELAWARE, OH – Rowan University’s Jena Peacock finished 16th in the 3000 meter steeplechase at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday night. The national championships conclude on Saturday, May 28 at Ohio Wesleyan University.

Peacock (jr. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) had a time of 10:56.71. The 3000 meter steeplechase was won by Baldwin-Wallace College’s Kimberly Chinn in 10:24.22. Her time broke the stadium record of 10:30.74 that she held from this season.

Peacock qualified for nationals with a NCAA provisional of 10:54.06 at the Penn Relays. It was the second straight year she competed at the national championships in the steeplechase. At the 2010 NCAA Championships, she finished 11th with a career best of 10:52.58.

This season, Peacock won the steeplechase in 11:10.79 at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships. She produced a time of 11:00.12 at the Larry Ellis Invitational and ran 11:00.58 at the Swarthmore College Last Chance Meet. At the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships, Peacock came in third with a time of 11:05.52.
