PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Rowan University women’s track and field team competed in three events at the Penn Relays on Thursday. The Penn Relays continue on Friday-Saturday, April 29-30 at Franklin Field.
The 4x400 meter relay took fourth place (3:58.30) in the Collegiate Track Conference race (event 162). Samantha Stapleton (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown), Jacqui Nisbett (sr. Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury), Tiffany Chamberlain (so. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.) and Amirah Muneer (jr. Ewing, NJ/Ewing) were on the 4x400. The relay qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships. Their time was better than the championships standard of 4:10.00.
The 4x100 meter relay had a time of 50.36 in the heats (event 110). They also recorded an ECAC qualifier (51.00). The relay included Heidi DeGuzman (jr. Central Islip, NY/Pennsauken), Muneer, Beverlee Brownlee (so. Mt. Holly, NJ/Willingboro) and Jamie Thompson (fr. Monmouth Jct., NJ/South Brunswick).
Jena Peacock (jr. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) finished ninth in the 3000 meter steeplechase college (event 206). She ran a time of 10:54.06 which is better than the NCAA provisional (11:10.00). Last week, Peacock had a NCAA provisional (11:00.12) in the steeplechase at the Larry Ellis Invitational.
