LAKEWOOD, NJ – The Rowan University women’s track and field team competed in a dual meet at Georgian Court University on Wednesday. Georgian Court was the winner, 90-83.
The Profs’ Tiffany Chamberlain (so. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.) was named Co-MVP of the meet. Chamberlain won the 400 meter hurdles with a NCAA automatic qualifying time of 1:01.81. The NCAA automatic is 1:02.00. Her time broke the University record (1:02.47) that she set last season. In addition, Chamberlain took second place (14.97) in the 100 meter hurdles.
Jenn Rawls (so. Runnemede, NJ/Highland Reg.) captured first in the 800 (2:23.05) and 1500 meters (4:45.23). The winning distance medley relay had a time of 12:42.67. The relay included Rawls, Heidi DeGuzman (jr. Central Islip, NY/Pennsauken), Samantha Stapleton (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) and Jena Peacock (jr. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy).
Jamie Thompson (fr. Monmouth Jct., NJ/South Brunswick) was the winner in the long jump. She had a distance of 16’ 9.5” (5.12 meters). Jess Carlson (fr. Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Reg.) captured first in the triple jump (34’ 4”, 10.46 meters) and was second in the long jump (15’ 9.75”, 4.82 meters). She also took third (15.05) in the 100 meter hurdles.
Peacock finished second in the 800 (2:24.69) and 1500 (4:48.94) meters. DeGuzman came in second (12.64) in the 100 meters and was third in the 200 (26.23). Amirah Muneer (jr. Ewing, NJ/Ewing) had second (1:00.84) and fourth (26.58) places in the 400 and 200 meters respectively. Sarah Dores (fr. Maple Shade, NJ/Holy Cross) took second in the javelin with a toss of 115’ 11” (35.34 meters). Kayla Leahey (fr. Keansburg, NJ/Warwick Valley) was second in the pole vault (8’ 6”, 2.59 meters). Sam Kamper (fr. Middletown, NJ/Middletown N.) had a third place in the high jump. She jumped 4’ 11.1” (1.50 meters).
Rowan will travel to Maryland on Saturday, April 23 for the Morgan State University Legancy Meet that starts at 9:30 a.m.
