NEW YORK, NY – The Rowan University men’s and women’s indoor track teams finished competing at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships on Saturday. The women took 11th place out of 47 teams while the men were 13th overall among 53 schools. The two-day championships were held at the Armory.
Jamie Thompson (fr. Monmouth Jct., NJ/South Brunswick) finished second in the 55 meter hurdles with a NCAA provisional time of 8.35. She had a better provisional (8.31) in the trials on Friday. Thompson also came in second in the long jump. She had a leap of 17’ 10.75” (5.45 meters) for a new school record. The old mark was 17’ 6” (5.34 meters) by Marketa Morse (1995).
Heide DeGuzman (jr. Central Islip, NY/Pennsauken) came in eighth in the 55 meters (7.43). In the 400 meters, Amirah Muneer (jr. Ewing, NJ/Ewing) finished 14th (59.64) while Tiffany Chamberlain (so. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.) was 19th (1:00.02).
The women’s 4x400 meter relay took 10th place with a school record time of 3:59.77. The 4x400 consisted of Kayla Leahey (fr. Keansburg, NJ/Warwick Valley), Chamberlain, Jacqui Nisbett (jr. Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) and Muneer. The old mark was 4:01.25 from this season. The 4x800 meter relay had an 11th place (9:46.02) with Alli Catenacci (sr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.), Ashlee Petroski (fr. Verona, NJ/Verona), Samantha Stapleton (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) and Grace Kaler (fr. Parisppany, NJ/Parsippany Hills).
Demetrius Rooks (so. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) had an eighth place (49.62) in the 400 meters. Kyle Hayes (sr. Pt. Pleasant, NJ/Pt. Pleasant Boro) took eighth place in the long jump with 22’ 0.75” (6.72 meters). Mike Carotenuto (so. Port Monmouth, NJ/Middletown N.) finished 28th in the one mile (4:32.99).
The men’s 4x400 meter relay finished seventh in 3:20.32. The 4x400 included Ali Ejaz (fr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro), Jayce Maxwell (jr. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan), Taylor Purdue (so. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.) and Rooks.
