MAHWAH, NJ – Ramapo College had a 3-1 victory over Rowan University in the semifinals of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Women’s Volleyball Championship Tournament on Thursday night. The set scores were 28-26, 23-25, 25-23 and 25-18.
Ramapo (27-6), the second seed, travels to top seeded Richard Stockton College (24-8) for the conference final on Saturday, November 5. Rowan, the third seed, finishes the season with a 15-16 record. In the other semifinal match on Thursday, Richard Stockton beat the fifth seed Rutgers-Camden, 3-0. The NJAC champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
The Roadrunners were led by outside hitter Michelle Ferrari (sr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) with 21 kills and a .346 hitting percentage. She also collected 18 digs. Outside hitter/opposite Allison Diangelo (sr. Clifton, NJ/Clifton) registered 13 kills, a .345 hitting percentage and three blocks. Outside hitter Julia Tuzio (jr. Paramus, NJ/Paramus) contributed with eight kills. Setter Tiffany Fischer (sr. Woodcliff Lake, NJ/Pascack Hills) accumulated 40 assists and 12 digs. Libero Elizabeth Steck (sr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) posted 19 digs.
For the Profs, outside hitter/middle blocker Krissy Collins (so. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) totaled 15 kills and six digs. Middle blocker Elaina Hansen (so. Monroe Twp., NJ/Monroe Twp.) and outside hitter/middle blocker Dakota Oeskovic (so. Pine Beach, NJ/Toms River S.) added 12 and 11 kills respectively. Outside hitter/middle blocker Kirstin Sciolaro (so. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) chipped in with eight kills and middle blocker Sarah Hanrahan (fr. Montvale, NJ/Pascack Hills) had seven. Setter Kelsey Donovan (so. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) tallied 46 assists and nine digs. Libero Lauren Ruffalo (so. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) compiled 19 digs and defensive specialist Nicole Ciandella (so. Hoboken, NJ/Roselle Catholic) had 12.
