Women's Volleyball Splits Matches On Second Day Of Worthington Classic

WASHINGTON, DC – The Rowan University women’s volleyball team split matches on the final day of the Worthington Classic that was held at Gallaudet University.  The Profs lost to Keuka College, 3-0 and came back to win 3-2 over Salem College.

The set scores against Keuka (10-6) were 25-17, 25-21 and 25-14.  For Rowan, defensive specialist Sarah Betancourt (sr. Harrington Park, NJ/Northern Valley Old Tappan) totaled seven kills and 13 digs.  Outside hitter/middle blocker Dakota Oeskovic (so. Pine Beach, NJ/Toms River S.) contributed with five kills.  Outside hitter Jamie Leishman (jr. Midland Park, NJ/Midland Park) collected 19 assists while libero Lauren Ruffalo (so. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) compiled 18 digs.

Rowan won the fifth set, 18-16 for the win over Salem (2-17).  Prior, the set scores were 22-25, 26-24, 26-24 and 23-25.  Outside hitter/middle blocker Krissy Collins (so. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) recorded a match-high 21 kills.  Outside hitter Elaina Hansen (so. Monroe Twp., NJ/Monroe Twp.) registered 15 kills.  Betancourt added nine kills and 18 digs.  Leishman accumulated 53 assists.  Ruffalo chipped in with 25 digs and defensive specialist Nicole Ciandella (so. Hoboken, NJ/Roselle Catholic) followed with 21.   

Rowan (10-10) plays at home on Tuesday, October 11 against conference opponent Ramapo College at 7 p.m.
