GLASSBORO, NJ – The Swarthmore College women’s volleyball team defeated Rowan University, 3-0 in a nonconference match on Thursday night.

The Garnet have a 16-6 record, while the Profs are 10-12 overall.  The set scores were 25-18, 25-15 and 25-16.

Swarthmore was led by middle blocker Kathryn Montemurro (jr. Bogota, NJ/Bergen County Academy) with a match-high 11 kills and a .500 hitting percentage.  Outside hitter Zahra Ahmed (fr. Washington, DC/Woodrow Wilson) tallied six kills.  Setter Allison Coleman (jr. Palo Alto, CA/Palo Alto) compiled 36 assists, while outside hitter Genny Pezzola (sr. Oakland, CA/St. Mary’s College HS) had 14 digs.  Opposite Hillary Santana (sr. South Lake Tahoe, CA/South Tahoe) posted 11 digs.

For Rowan, outside hitter/middle blocker Dakota Oeskovic (so. Pine Beach, NJ/Toms River S.) collected seven kills.  Setter Kelsey Donovan (so. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) recorded 15 assists and seven digs.  Libero Nicole Ciandella (so. Hoboken, NJ/Roselle Catholic) amassed 12 digs.

The Profs travel to Neumann University in Aston, PA for the Knights Homecoming Classic on Saturday, October 15.  Rowan plays Neumann at 10 a.m. and Wilkes University at noon.  The Profs face Nazareth College at 2 p.m.
