Richard Stockton Wins, 62-44 Over Visiting Rowan

POMONA, NJ – The Richard Stockton College men’s basketball team defeated Rowan University, 62-44 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Wednesday night.

Richard Stockton has a 9-6 record and 3-2 conference mark. Rowan drops to 6-10 overall and 1-5 in the NJAC. Ospreys’ forward DiAndre Brown (jr. Sicklerville, NJ/Camden County Tech) registered 15 points and nine rebounds. Guard Kai Massaquoi (sr. Lawnside, NJ/Haddon Heights) compiled 14 points, five assists, four boards and three steals. Forward Nnamdi Usuwa (so. Colonia, NJ/Colonia) added seven points and six rebounds.

For the Profs, guard Roger Loatman (jr. Bridgeton, NJ/Bridgeton) scored a game-high 16 points and pulled down six rebounds. Guard Laud Anderson (sr. North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick Twp.) tallied nine points off the bench. Guard Jason Rosenberg (fr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) dished four assists.

The Ospreys led, 27-22 at the intermission. Richard Stockton opened the second period with a 13-1 run to pull ahead by 17 (40-23) at 15:26. Brown scored nine of the 13 points. Back-to-back baskets by guard Kendall White (so. Lumberton, NJ/Rancocas Valley Reg.) and Loatman at 15:12 and 14:30 respectively brought the Profs within 13 (40-27). It was the closest Rowan would come. Richard Stockton’s largest lead of the game was 20 points at 6:40 (53-33) and 5:02 (55-35).

Richard Stockton was ahead, 8-4 at 12:45 in the first half following a jumper by guard Adam Floyd (fr. Northfield, NJ/Mainland Reg.). Rowan scored the next seven points for a three point advantage (11-8) at 9:43. Anderson hit a three-pointer and forward Tom Paterno (jr. Brick, NJ/Brick Twp.) and Loatman each had a basket. Massaquoi’s two free throws at 7:38 tied the game at 15. Guard Rich McNamara (fr. Southampton, NJ/Seneca) made a three-pointer at 7:19 to give the Profs an 18-15 lead.

The Ospreys had a 10-0 surge to go up by seven (25-18) with 2:11 remaining. Forward Mike Pendleton (so. Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken) and guard Ibn Moye (fr. Toms River, NJ/Central Reg.) both nailed a three-pointer, while Brown and Massaquoi added one basket apiece. Anderson’s layup (:52) cut the deficit to five (25-20), but Massaquoi answered with a jumper (:19). Anderson’s bucket with five seconds left made the score, 27-22 at halftime.
