Rowan Track and Field Teams Compete on Final Day of ECAC Championships

SPRINGFIELD, MA – The Rowan University men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams competed on the final day of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships on Friday. The women took 13th place among 51 schools, while the men only had four individuals participate. The two-day meet was hosted by Springfield College.

Jenn Rawls (fr. Runnemede, NJ/Highland Reg.) finished fourth in the women’s 1500 meters with a time of 4:33.64. Jena Peacock (so. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) followed ninth in 4:41.35. Rawls’ time was a NCAA provisional (4:38.00). She earned a better provisional (4:31.99) at the Penn Invitational (Apr. 3). Heidi DeGuzman (so. Central Islip, NY/Pennsauken) captured fourth place in the 100 meters (12.40).

Tiffany Chamberlain (fr. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.) came in sixth place in the 400 meter hurdles (1:04.08). Jacqui Nisbett (jr. Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) was seventh in the 100 meter hurdles (15.42) and ninth in the 400 meter hurdles (1:04.96). Ashley White (fr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) took 13th in the 5000 meters with a time of 18:51.76.

The women’s 4x400 relay had an eighth place finish in 4:00.57. The relay was comprised of Nisbett, Beverlee Brownlee (fr. Willingboro, NJ/Willingboro), Christina Huynh (fr. Lake Hiawatha, NJ/Parsippany) and Chamberlain.

In the men’s long jump, Mark Lisa (so. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.) took 12th with a distance of 21’ 4.25” (6.51 meters). Mike Carotenuto (fr. Port Monmouth, NJ/Middletown N.) and Eric DuBois (so. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) captured 18th (4:01.44) and 26th (4:07.07) respectively in the 1500 meters. Kevin Gauntt (sr. Marlton, NJ/Seneca) was 20th in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 57.88.

Rowan will travel to The College of New Jersey for the Lions’ Last Chance Meet on Thursday, May 20.
