Women's Track and Field Team Competes on First Day of ECAC Championships

SPRINGFIELD, MA – The Rowan University women’s outdoor track and field team competed on the first day of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships on Thursday. The two-day meet is being hosted by Springfield College.

Jena Peacock (so. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) finished third in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Her time of 10:53.72 was a NCAA provisional (11:13.00). She broke the school record of 11:00.00, which she set earlier this year at the Penn Invitational (Apr. 3).

In the 100 meter dash preliminaries, Heidi DeGuzman (so. Central Islip, NY/Pennsauken) took fourth place (12.45). She moves onto the finals on Friday, May 14 at 12:50 p.m. Sylvia Mosley (so. Pleasantville, NJ/Pleasantville) came in 16th in the 100 meters with a time of 13.10. Jacqui Nisbett (jr. Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) placed seventh (15.32) in the 100 meter hurdles preliminaries. Tiffany Chamberlain (fr. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.) followed in 14th place (15.83). The top eight competitors move on to the final on Friday at 11:45 a.m.

Lisa Jones (sr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) and Danielle Czohla (so. Lafayette, NJ/High Point Reg.) were 16th (11:43.24) and 20th (11:52.44) respectively in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Laura O’Mara (sr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.) captured 15th in the 10000 meters with a time of 39:36.91.

The ECAC Championships continue on Friday, May 14 at 10 a.m.
