Rowan Rolls to a 94-52 Win Over Rutgers-Camden

GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women’s basketball team rolled to a 94-52 win over conference opponent Rutgers-Camden in the final game of the regular season.

Rowan is 16-8 overall with a 9-4 conference mark. The Profs are the second seed in the South Division for the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship Tournament. On Sat., February 20, Rowan will host Ramapo College, the third seed from the North Division, in the first round at 1 p.m. Rutgers-Camden ends the year with a 3-21 record and 0-13 mark in the NJAC.

Forward Amanda Jennings (sr. Turnersville, NJ/Washington Twp.) led the Profs with 28 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Michelle Lala (sr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) totaled a career-high 20 points and guard Alissa Lamey (so. Northfield, NJ/Mainland Reg.) chipped in with 11. Guard Danielle Rohe (sr. Dumont, NJ/Dumont) pulled down a career-best 12 rebounds. Guard Gina Catanzariti (jr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) and Rohe added eight points apiece.

For the Scarlet Raptors, guard Samantha Bragg (jr. Lindenwold, NJ/Lindenwold) scored 18 points. Guard Casey Crenny (so. Blackwood, NJ/Camden Catholic) and forward Stephanie Deisley (so. Riverside, NJ/Holy Cross) contributed with nine and seven points respectively.

Rowan started the game with a 10-2 run in 3:16. Rohe contributed with eight points and Lala had two. Catanzariti’s jumper put the Profs up by 12 points (18-6) at 13:49. Crenny followed with a basket (18-8) at 13:28 for the Scarlet Raptors. Rowan then scored 10 straight points to lead 28-8 with 9:43 remaining. Jennings had six points and Lala added four. Deisley hit a jumper at 7:08 and Rutgers-Camden trailed 32-14.

Rowan had nine unanswered points to lead by 27 (41-14) with 4:35 left. Jennings made six of the nine points. Rutgers-Camden was down 43-17 at 3:35. The Scarlet Raptors ended the period with a 6-2 surge. Guard Catherine Tadeja (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) scored three points, guard Khyla Hedrick (fr. Browns Mills, NJ/Pemberton) followed with two and guard Sarah Gorbe (jr. Riverside, NJ/Riverside) had one. The Profs had a 22 point advantage (45-23) at the intermission.

In the final half, Lamey nailed a three-pointer that increased the Profs’ lead to 31 points (58-27) at 15:44. Bragg’s jumper at 15:02 made the score 60-32. At 13:22, Rowan was ahead 65-33. Jennings started a 13-0 run with a basket at 13:10 and Catanzariti ended it with a three at 10:01. The Profs were up by 45 points (78-33) after the surge. Forward Erin Farrell (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) made two foul shots with 5:25 on the clock (84-35). The 49 points was Rowan’s biggest lead of the game.
