Jennings' 23 Points Leads Rowan Over Richard Stockton, 60-44

POMONA, NJ – Forward Amanda Jennings scored a game-high 23 points to lead Rowan University over Richard Stockton College, 60-44 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Saturday afternoon.

Jennings (sr. Turnersville, NJ/Washington Twp.) also grabbed nine rebounds. Guard Gina Catanzariti (jr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) contributed with 12 points, seven boards and seven assists. Forward Michelle Lala (sr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) pulled down 11 rebounds.

Rowan has a record of 15-7 and an 8-3 conference mark. Richard Stockton drops to 11-12 overall and 5-6 in the NJAC. For the Ospreys, center LaTonya Oliver (so. West Berlin, NJ/Overbrook) totaled 11 points and six rebounds. Forward Julia Fagan (jr. New Britain, CT/New Britain) came off the bench for 11 rebounds and seven points. Forward Noelle Hogan (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) chipped in with eight boards.

The Profs started the second half with a one point deficit (25-24). Guard Danielle Rohe (sr. Dumont, NJ/Dumont) made two foul shots at 17:38 that tied the score at 32. Guard Jill Shaner (fr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) had one free throw (16:49) for the Ospreys to lead by one (33-32). Rowan then scored 14 straight points to go up 46-33 at 12:51. Jennings contributed with nine, Rohe hit a three-pointer and Catanzariti had two foul shots.

Lala’s jumper put the Profs ahead by 15 (50-35) with 8:24 remaining. Oliver had a layup at 7:16 and the Ospreys trailed by 13 points (50-37). It was the closest they came for the remainder of the game. Rowan followed with eight unanswered points to lead 58-37 with 5:08 left. Jennings scored six points and Catanzariti had two. The Profs had their biggest lead of 22 points (60-38) with 3:12 on the clock. Jennings totaled 17 points in the final period and Catanzariti added 10.

In the first half, Oliver’s jumper made the score 8-5 at 17:43. Guard Alissa Lamey (so. Northfield, NJ/Mainland Reg.) nailed a three that tied the score (17:34). The Profs added four straight baskets to lead by eight points (16-8) at 11:17. Jennings contributed with four points while Catanzariti and Lamey had two apiece. Richard Stockton came back with five straight points to pull within three (16-13) at 9:16. Fagan scored three points and Oliver had two. At the nine minute mark, Rowan was ahead 18-13. Hogan (8:47) and Fagan (7:04) each had a basket to trail by one (18-17). Guard Nancy White (so. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) added a three-pointer (5:54) and a jumper (5:07) for a four point advantage (22-18). Lala made two free throws (3:55) to pull within two points (22-20). She also had two more with 40 seconds left to end the first period scoring. Richard Stockton was ahead 25-24 at the break.

Rowan will travel to Kean University on Monday, February 15 for a 6 p.m. NJAC contest. The game was rescheduled from Saturday, February 6 because of a snowstorm.
