POMONA, NJ – The Richard Stockton College men’s basketball team defeated Rowan University, 82-55 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Saturday.
The Ospreys were led by guard Santini Lancioni (sr. Runnemede, NJ/Paul VI) with 27 points. Guard Kai Massaquoi (jr. Lawnside, NJ/Haddon Heights) contributed with 14 points and eight rebounds. Forward Omar Smith (sr. Newark, NJ/Central) added 10 points and nine boards.
Richard Stockton has a 17-6 record with a 7-4 conference mark. Rowan is 15-7 overall and 6-5 in the NJAC. For the Profs, guard Laud Anderson (jr. North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick Twp.) scored a career-high 14 points off the bench. Forward Tyson Hartnett (sr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) added nine points.
The Ospreys jumped out to a 15-4 lead in the first 7:18 of the game. Smith led the way with six points and Lancioni followed with four. Anderson’s jumper at 10:43 cut the deficit to seven points (17-10). Lancioni nailed a three-pointer for a 15 point advantage (30-15) at 5:19. The Profs followed with eight straight points and trailed 30-23 with 2:32 left. Hartnett hit a three (00:46) and a layup (00:15) that made the score 34-28. Massaquoi was good for one of two foul shots at the one second mark to end the first half with a seven point lead (35-28). Lancioni totaled 15 points and Smith had 10.
In the second half, Lancioni increased the Ospreys’ advantage to 10 points (41-31) with a three-pointer at 18:19. The Profs trailed by nine points (46-37) with 14:48 remaining. Richard Stockton pulled away with a 16-2 run in 3:43 for a 23 point advantage (62-39). Guard Michael Farrow (jr. Whitesboro, NJ/Middle Twp.) scored eight of the 16 points. Lancioni’s three-pointer put Stockton ahead by 26 points (67-41) at 9:15. He had a three with 4:36 left that made the score 75-45. Lancioni finished the game with seven three-pointers.
