Women's Soccer Defeats Host Moravian, 4-0

BETHLEHEM, PA – The Rowan University women’s soccer team defeated host Moravian College, 4-0 on Saturday.

Rowan has a 10-1-1 record while Moravian drops to 2-9-2 on the season. This week, the Profs were ranked 20th in the nation and third in the South Atlantic Region.

The Profs scored two goals in each half. Forward Veronica Rhea (jr. Pennsauken, NJ/Paul VI) started the scoring at 24:48 and back Christine Foy (jr. Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) assisted. It was Rhea’s sixth goal of the year. Midfielder Christie Fink (jr. Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) had the second on a pass from midfielder Dayna Sakalsky (fr. Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) with 4:36 remaining.

Forward Melanie Wittenberger (so. Tabernacle, NJ/Seneca) made the score 3-0 at 59:51. With 1:53 left, midfielder Audrey Gagnon (so. South Amboy, NJ/South Amboy) scored the final goal.

Rowan registered 15 shots while Moravian took four. Goalie Deana Wood (fr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) made two saves for her seventh shutout. For Moravian, goalie Sarah Halpin (sr. Downington, NJ/Dowingtown W.) turned away seven shots.

Next week, Rowan travels to conference opponent Ramapo College on Wednesday, October 13 for a 4 p.m. game.
