GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women’s volleyball team had a 3-0 victory over New Jersey City University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) match on Thursday night. The set scores were 25-12, 25-12 and 25-16.
The Profs are 16-11 overall and 5-3 in the conference. The Gothic Knights have a 7-19 record with a 0-8 NJAC mark. It was the last conference match of the regular season for both teams. The NJAC Championship Tournament begins on Tuesday, November 3.
Rowan was led by outside hitter Katie Havlick (so. Midland Park, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) with 13 kill and a .500 hitting percentage. Opposite Megan Mondelli (so. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) posted 10 kills, 14 digs, three service aces and a .667 hitting percentage. Middle blocker Krissy Collins (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) added seven kills. Libero Lauren Ruffalo (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and setter Nikki Ciandella (fr. Hoboken, NJ/Roselle Catholic) both tallied 10 digs. Ciandella dished 29 assists.
For New Jersey City, outside hitter Tabitha Jordan (jr. West New York, NJ/Memorial) compiled seven kills, seven digs and four service aces. Defensive specialist Amanda Dopico (so. West New York, NJ/Memorial) and outside hitter Marissa Scarpa (fr. Kearny, NJ/Kearny) totaled eight digs apiece. Setter Alex Johanesen (sr. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) registered 16 assists.
Rowan travels to Gallaudet University in Washington, DC for a tri-match on Friday, October 29. The Profs play Gallaudet at 4 p.m. and Stevenson University at 6 p.m.
