GLASSBORO, NJ – Back Lou Buonocore’s unassisted goal with 9:30 remaining gave Rowan University a 3-2 victory over Kean University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Friday night.

The game was tied 1-1 after the first period. At 64:30, forward Julian Berrios (so. Lakewood, NJ/Calvary Academy) headed in a serve from back Jake Dunn (jr. Vineland, NJ/Sacred Heart) to put the Profs ahead, 2-1. Fifty-one seconds later, the Cougars answered with an unassisted goal by midfielder Kharee Winslow (so. Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway). At 80:30, Buonocore (fr. Hazlet, NJ/Raritan) took a shot from 35 yards out on the left side of the field that sailed over the goalkeeper’s head and into the back right corner of the net.

Rowan improves to 5-11-2 overall and 2-6 in the conference. Kean has an 8-8-2 record with a 4-4 NJAC mark. Buonocore finished the game with one goal and one assist. Midfielder Ryan Gordon (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) and Berrios had one goal apiece. Midfielder Shane Dooley (so. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.) and Dunn each dished one assist. For Kean, Winslow tallied one goal and one assist. Forward Tiago Goetzke (so. Curitiba, Brazil/Dimensao) scored once.

The Profs took 13 shots and the Cougars had 11. Rowan goalkeeper Charlie Cunliffe (sr. Lakewood, NJ/Lakewood) made four saves. Goalkeeper Alfredo Oquendo (sr. North Plainfield, NJ/North Plainfield) stopped two shots for Kean.

Goetzke’s goal at 5:50 in the first period gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead. Winslow picked up the assist. At 11:43, Buonocore kicked the ball into the top of the box to Dooley, who found Gordon in front of the goal. Gordon sent the ball into the right side of the net to tie the game (1-1).

Rowan hosts Medgar Evers College in a nonconference game on Saturday, October 23 at 7 p.m.
