GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women’s volleyball team defeated Bryn Mawr College, 3-1 and SUNY Purchase, 3-0 on Saturday.

The Profs’ hosted the quad match which also featured Kean University. Bryn Mawr topped SUNY Purchase, 3-0 and Kean, 3-0. Kean won the final match of the day, 3-1 over SUNY Purchase.

Rowan’s set scores against Bryn Mawr were 25-13, 18-25, 25-22 and 25-10. Outside hitter Katie Havlicek (fr. Midland Park, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) led the way with 14 kills, 14 digs and six service aces. Middle blocker Chelsea Bowman (sr. Penns Grove, NJ/Park Bible Academy) added 13 kills. Opposite Megan Mondelli (fr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) totaled 15 digs and seven kills. Defensive specialist Sarah Betancourt (so. Harrington Park, NJ/Northern Valley Old Tappan) tallied 17 digs and three aces. Libero Casey Roselle (so. Sparta, NJ/Sparta) recorded a game-high 24 digs. Setter Chrissy McKay (sr. Paramus, NJ/Paramus) posted 30 assists and 20 digs.

For Byrn Mawr, middle blocker Mikecia Witherspoon (so. Philadelphia, PA/Julia Masterman) had 12 kills and 10 assists. Middle blocker Katie Merrill (so. Sierra Madre, CA/Pasadena) and right side Samantha Abbott (fr. Alberta, Canada/Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School) compiled 18 and 17 digs respectively. Defensive specialist Katie Solook (sr. Lebanon, NJ/North Hunterdon) led the team with 21 digs. Setter Emily Takeuchi-Miller (so. Tucson, AZ/Green Fields Country Day School) totaled 15 assists and 15 digs.

Against SUNY Purchase, Rowan won 25-9, 25-11 and 25-16. Havlicek registered 15 kills and a .441 hitting percentage. Bowman followed with eight kills, seven aces and a .571 hitting percentage. McKay tallied 28 assists and eight digs. Roselle and Betancourt added 16 and 15 digs respectively. For the Panthers, libero Laura Dykas (jr. Wethersfield, CT/Wethersfield) had 13 digs, while middle hitter Taylor Edelmann (fr. Bethel, CT/Bethel) had 12.
