GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women’s soccer team defeated Richard Stockton College, 3-1 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Wednesday night. 
Rowan improves to 7-1-1 overall and 4-0 in the conference. Richard Stockton has an 8-2-1 record and a 3-1 NJAC mark. The Profs are ranked 11th in nation and first in the South Atlantic Region, while the Ospreys are third in the region. 
Rowan went jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 5:13 in the first period. Forward Veronica Rhea (so. Pennsauken, NJ/Paul VI) kicked the ball to forward Jess Babice (jr. Groveville, NJ/Steinert), who shot into in the lower right hand corner of the net. Fourteen minutes later, midfielder Krista Verzi (sr. Delran, NJ/Delran) knocked in a pass by Babice to put the Profs up 2-0 at the intermission. 
In the second half, Rowan midfielder Evynn Wright (so. Marlton, NJ/Eastern Reg.) recorded a goal at 65:25. Back Caitlin Toomey’s (sr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) shot was deflected by Richard Stockton goalkeeper Maria Dorris (fr. Mantua, NJ/Clearview Reg.) and Wright was there to put it into the net. Ospreys’ midfielder Rachel Carlson (fr. Mullica Twp., NJ/Oakcrest) kicked the ball into the back of the goal from 10 yards out as time expired for Richard Stockton’s lone goal. Forward Amanda Altman (jr. Beachwood, NJ/Toms River S.) picked up the assist. 
Richard Stockton took 11 shots, while Rowan had 10. Goalkeeper Sarah Volkomer (sr. Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) made five saves for the Profs. In the Ospreys’ net, Dorris stopped three shots. 
Rowan hosts Ramapo College in a NJAC game on Saturday, October 3 at 7 p.m.
