YORK, PA – The Rowan University women’s volleyball team lost 3-0 to McDaniel College on the final day of the Spartan Invitational hosted by York College (PA). Messiah College defeated Rowan, 3-2 in the last match.

McDaniel (10-6) won with set scores of 25-20, 25-11 and 25-11. The scores were 24-26, 25-20, 25-18, 19-25 and 15-6 against Messiah (8-9). Rowan has a 5-8 overall record.

Against McDaniel, outside hitter Katie Havlicek (fr. Midland Park, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) totaled nine kills and two service aces. Libero Casey Roselle (jr. Sparta, NJ/Sparta) contributed with 22 digs. Setter Chrissy McKay (sr. Paramus, NJ/Paramus) tallied 19 assists and six digs. Defensive specialist Sarah Betancourt (so. Harrington Park, NJ/Northern Valley Old Tappan) added nine digs.

Havlicek compiled 15 kills, 11 digs and three blocks against Messiah. Middle blocker Chelsea Bowman (sr. Penns Grove, NJ/Park Bible Academy) chipped in with 10 kills and three aces. Roselle registered 26 digs and one service ace while McKay accumulated 34 assists and five digs. Betancourt had 15 digs and ace.

Next week, Rowan hosts Valley Forge Christian on Thursday, October 1 at 7 p.m.
