POMONA, NJ – The Richard Stockton College women’s volleyball team defeated Rowan University, 3-0 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) match on Thursday night. The set scores were 25-14, 25-17 and 25-21.
Richard Stockton improves to 8-5 overall and 2-0 in the conference. Rowan has a 5-4 record with a 0-3 NJAC mark.
The Ospreys were led by middle hitter Tabitha Nejman (so. Runnemede, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy) and outside hitter Christine Velott (so. Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) with nine and eight kills respectively. Nejman ended the match with a .381 hitting percentage. Velott also totaled 10 digs and three service aces. Setter Laura Hausman (so. Bethlehem, PA/ Catasauqua) registered 22 assists and libero Christine Astarita (jr. Selden, NY/Newfield) compiled 17 digs.
For the Profs, middle blocker Chelsea Bowman (sr. Penns Grove, NJ/Park Bible Academy) contributed with nine kills and a .429 hitting percentage. Outside hitter Katie Havlicek (fr. Midland Park, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) totaled five kills, seven digs and two aces. Setter Chrissy McKay (sr. Paramus, NJ/Paramus) accumulated 17 assists and 14 digs.
Rowan travels to York College (PA) for the Spartan Invitational on Friday and Saturday, September 25 and 26. On Friday, Rowan plays Lebanon Valley College at 5 p.m. and faces host York College at 9 p.m.
