GLASSBORO, NJ – The Montclair State University women’s volleyball team defeated Rowan University, 3-0 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) match on Thursday night.

The Red Hawks improve to 2-4, while the Profs have a 5-2 record. It was the conference opener for both teams. The set scores were 25-14, 25-22 and 25-22.

Middle blocker Kara Burnham (sr. Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) led Montclair State with 12 kills and seven digs. Outside hitter Samantha Karpinski (sr. Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack) added nine kills, 11 digs and two blocks. Setter Michelle Del Valle (so. Teaneck, NJ/Memorial) dished 28 assists. Outside hitter Karen Martin (sr. Sicklerville, NJ/Washington Twp.) posted 10 digs, seven kills and three service aces.

For Rowan, opposite Megan Mondelli (fr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) and outside hitter Seana Henigan (fr. Newark, DE/Delaware Military Academy) both recorded seven kills. Libero Casey Roselle (jr. Sparta, NJ/Sparta) collected 20 digs, while outside hitter Katie Havlicek (fr. Midland Park, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) had 19. Setter Chrissy McKay (sr. Paramus, NJ/Paramus) totaled 13 assists and eight digs.

Rowan hosts Ramapo College in a NJAC match on Tuesday, September 22 at 7 p.m.
