BALTIMORE, MD – The Goucher College women’s volleyball team defeated Rowan University, 3-1 in a nonconference match on Wednesday night.

Goucher improves to 5-2 overall, while Rowan has a 5-1 record. The set scores were 25-17, 26-24, 22-25 and 25-12.

The Gophers were led by outside hitter Megan Smith (sr. Honolulu, HI/Long Beach Polytechnic (CA)) with 16 kills and 31 digs. Outside hitter Kasey Quinn (jr. Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) posted 14 kills and 17 digs. Defensive specialists Rebecca Schaefer (jr. River Edge, NJ/River Dell) and Ashley Fan (fr. Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) added 26 and 25 digs respectively. Setter Claire Sauvage-Mar (jr. New Delhi, India/American Embassy School) dished 37 assists to go along with 16 digs.

For the Profs, outside hitter Katie Havlicek (fr. Midland Park, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) totaled 12 kills, 15 digs and three blocks. Opposite Megan Mondelli (fr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) recorded 15 digs and six kills. Setter Chrissy McKay (sr. Paramus, NJ/Paramus) accumulated 26 assists, 14 digs and two service aces. Outside hitter Rachel Emig (so. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) added six kills. Libero Casey Roselle (jr. Sparta, NJ/Sparta) contributed with 21 digs, while defensive specialist Sarah Betancourt (so. Harrington Park, NJ/Northern Valley Old Tappan) had 11.

Rowan hosts Montclair State University in its conference opener on Thursday, September 17 at 7 p.m.
