GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA – The Rowan University women’s volleyball team defeated Gwynedd-Mercy College, 3-0 in a nonconference match on Thursday night.

With the win, Rowan (5-0) extends its winning streak to five games. Gwynedd-Mercy has a 0-5 record. The Profs won with set scores of 25-20, 25-16 and 25-11.

Middle blocker Chelsea Bowman (sr. Penns Grove, NJ/Park Bible Academy) and outside hitter Katie Havlicek (fr. Midland Park, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) compiled 10 kills apiece. Havlicek also posted eight digs, while Bowman had one service ace. Opposite Megan Mondelli (fr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) totaled 10 digs, four kills and three aces. She served 10 consecutive points in the third set. Setter Chrissy McKay (sr. Paramus, NJ/Paramus) accumulated 24 assists and eight digs. Libero Casey Roselle (jr. Sparta, NJ/Sparta) contributed with eight digs.

For Gwynedd-Mercy, middle hitter Kristina Schneider (so. Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert) tallied nine kills. Setters Kristen Gambone (fr. E. Norriton, PA/Lansdale Catholic) and Maria Stilwell (so. Swarthmore, PA/Ridley) recorded 11 and nine assists respectively. Outside hitters Amanda Price (so. Schuylkill Haven, PA/Blue Mountain) and Nicole Burke (fr. Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) and opposite Kelsey Craig (fr. Boothwyn, PA/Chichester) each registered 10 digs.

Rowan hosts Montclair State University in its conference opener on Tuesday, September 15 at 7 p.m.
