KISSIMMEE, FL – The Rowan University softball team won two more games in Florida on Tuesday. At the Rebel Spring Games, Rowan defeated Nichols College (MA), 10-0 in five innings and Utica College (NY), 10-2.
The Profs have a 6-4 record with a five game win streak. Righty Amanda Singer (so. Monmouth Jct., NJ/E. Brunswick) was the winning pitcher against Nichols. Singer (2-3) only gave up one hit and struck out six batters. It was her second shutout of the season. Catcher Ashley Minch (fr. Pennsville, NJ/Pennsville Mem.) recorded three hits (three at bats), three RBIs, a double and one run scored. Third baseman Julie Leskanic (fr. West Milford, NJ/West Milford) went two for two with two RBIs, two runs scored and a double. Right fielder Heidi Smith (jr. Hainesport, NJ/Rancocas Valley Reg.) had two hits in three plate appearances, one RBI and one run scored.
Versus Utica, right hander Jackie Sasko (sr. Groveville, NJ/Steinert) picked up her fourth victory on the mound. Sasko (4-1) allowed two hits and compiled six strikeouts. At the plate, left fielder Casey Roselle (so. Sparta, NJ/Sparta) was three for five with three RBIs, two runs scored and one triple. Leskanic contributed with two hits (four at bats), two runs scored and a triple. Catcher Steph Taraschi (jr. Mt. Ephraim, NJ/Audubon) added two hits (four at bats) and three RBIs.
On Wednesday, March 18, Rowan plays Fontbonne University (MO) at 9 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. game against Endicott College (MA).
