NEW YORK, NY – The Rowan University men’s and women’s indoor track teams competed at the New York University Fastrack Invitational. The individual competition was held at the New York Armory.

The women’s distance medley took second place in 13:08.38. The relay consisted of Eileen O’Mara (fr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.), Rosalee Johnson (fr. Willingboro, NJ/Holy Cross), Amira Abdullah (fr. Erial, NJ/Timber Creek) and Lisa Jones (jr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest).

Jones finished 16th in the 1000 meters (3.08.86). Heidi DeGuzman (fr. Central Islip, NY/Pennsauken) came in 17th in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.06. O’Mara was 19th in the one mile (5:26.15). In the 500 meters, Alli Catenacci (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) and Abdullah were 19th (1:23.04) and 20th (1:24.92) respectively.

For the men, Jason Yanchuck (jr. Somerset, NJ/Franklin) captured eighth place in the shot put with a throw of 44’11.5” (13.70 meters). Kyle Hayes (so. Pt. Pleasant, NJ/Pt. Pleasant Boro) took 10th in the long jump with 22’ 1” (6.73 meters). Kevin Gauntt (jr. Marlton, NJ/Seneca) was 11th in the 60 meter hurdles (8.46) and Mike Rivera (sr. Old Tappan, NJ/Northern Valley Old Tappan) came in 18th in the one mile (4:26.58).

Rowan travels to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships on Friday-Saturday, March 6-7. The meet is hosted by Tufts University in Medford, MA.
