GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women’s basketball team had a 68-63 victory over Arcadia University in a nonconference game on Saturday night.

The Profs improve to 6-3, while the Knights have a 3-5 record. Rowan was led by forward Amanda Jennings (sr. Turnersville, NJ/Washington Twp.) with 24 points and a career-high 18 rebounds. Forward Michelle Lala (sr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) added 16 points and seven boards. Guard Gina Catanzariti (jr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) chipped in with 12 points. Guard Alissa Lamey (so. Northfield, NJ/Mainland Reg.) dished eight assists.

For the Knights, guard Justine Davis (fr. Philadelphia, PA/Carver Engineering & Science) scored 17 points. Center Corrine Geiger (jr. Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) totaled 14 points and seven rebounds. Forward Kim Milligan (sr. Crofton, MD/South River) contributed with 12 points and six boards.

In the first half, Catanzariti’s three-pointer at 17:39 gave Rowan a 9-2 lead. Geiger (17:20) and Davis (16:13) each had a basket to pull within three (9-6). Arcadia guard Beth Murray (sr. Latrobe, PA/Greater Latrobe) sunk two foul shots at 12:37 to tied the game (12-12). The score was tied at 14 with 10:08 on the clock. Rowan had a 6-0 run to lead by six (20-14) at 8:42. Jennings had four points and Catanzariti added two. Geiger’s jumper at 6:59 brought Arcadia within four (22-18). Jennings made three straight baskets to push the advantage to 10 (28-18) with 5:08 remaining. Rowan was up 32-23 at 2:40. Geiger made a layup (2:24) and a jumper (00:58) to cut the deficit to five (32-27). Catanzariti nailed a jumper (00:45) and Arcadia guard Ashley Gripper (so. Philadelphia, PA/Central) had a layup (00:13) to make the score, 34-29 at the intermission. Jenning totaled 14 points in the first period and Catanzariti had 11. Geiger posted 10 points for the Knights.

Milligan’s jumper at 19:22 in the second half cut the lead to three (34-31). Rowan had a 9-0 surge to go ahead by 12 (43-31) at 16:15. Lala scored four points in the run. Catanzariti’s foul shot at 13:15 made the score, 47-37. Arcadia recorded the next eight points to come within two (47-45). Murray scored four of the eight points. The Profs scored 10 consecutive points for a 57-45 advantage at 6:12. Jennings compiled six points in the surge. With Rowan up 60-49 at 4:48, Arcadia went on an 11-2 run to cut the deficit to two (62-60). Davis posted six of the 11 points. Rowan was ahead by six after four free throws. Milligan sank a three-pointer with seven seconds left, but Lala’s two foul shots (00:03) sealed the win.
