GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women’s basketball team defeated Delaware Valley College, 77-65 in a nonconference game on Tuesday night.

The Profs improve to 3-2, while the Aggies have a 2-2 record. Rowan was led by forward Amanda Jennings (sr. Turnersville, NJ/Washington Twp.) with a career-high 27 points and 14 rebounds. She made eight of 16 field goals and 11 of 12 free throws. Forward Michelle Lala (sr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) had a double-double with 19 points and 10 boards. Guard Danielle Rohe (sr. Dumont, NJ/Dumont) recorded 14 points. Guard Allie Bassetti (so. Turnersville, NJ/Washington Twp.) dished six assists.

Guard Brittany Battinieri (jr. Eddystone, PA/Ridley) and forward Jackie Shunkwiler (so. Levittown, PA/Neshaminy) posted 13 points apiece. Guard Kim Vennera (sr. Norristown, PA/Kennedy-Kenrick) was also in double figures with 12 points. Forward Jenna Peoples (fr. Cheltenham, PA/Cheltenham) contributed with nine points and seven rebounds, while forward Emily Soper (fr. Selinsgrove, PA/Selinsgrove) blocked five shots.

In the first half, the score was tied (8-8) at 16:01. Rowan guard Ashley Russo (fr. Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrence) hit a three-pointer (15:14) and Jennings nailed a jumper (14:06) to put the Profs up by five (13-8). Soper had a basket at 10:26 that made the score, 17-12. Rowan went on a 9-2 run for a 12 point advantage (26-14). Lala registered four points, Rohe sunk a three-pointer and Jennings converted two free throws.

The Profs extended the lead to 15 points (37-22) with 1:51 left in the half. Vennera had two layups (1:15 and 00:52) and Shunkwiler made a three-pointer with five seconds remaining to bring the Aggies within eight (37-29) at the intermission. Jennings scored 12 points in the first period, while Lala had 10.

Delaware Valley started the send half with a 12-3 run over the first 2:26 to go ahead, 41-40. Battinieri made two three-pointers and guard Brittany Zimmerman (so. Lewistown, PA/Lewistown), Soper and Peoples all had one basket. Rowan scored the next seven points to go back up by six (47-41) at 15:14. Jennings had a jumper and a layup, while Rohe made a three-pointer. Vennera’s foul shot at 14:23 cut the deficit to two (47-45). The Profs had a 9-2 surge to pull ahead by nine (56-47). Rohe hit two three-pointers and guard Gina Catanzariti (jr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) had one. Jennings’ layup with 9:33 made the score, 62-51. The Profs’ largest lead of the game was 17 points (75-58) following two foul shots by Jennings with 3:04 left to play.
