SELINSGROVE, PA – The Rowan University women’s volleyball team lost two matches on the first day of the Hampton Inn Crusader Classic. The Profs were defeated by host Susquehanna University, 3-0 and Richard Stockton College, 3-0.

The two day tournament continues on Saturday, October 10. Rowan plays York College (PA) at 1 p.m., followed by a 3 p.m. match against Montclair State University.

Against Susquehanna (14-9), the set scores were 25-13, 25-12 and 25-14. The Crusaders were led by outside hitter Lindsey Jankiewicz (jr. Easton, PA/Freedom) with 16 kills and six service aces. Opposite Emily Carson (fr. Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell) totaled eight kills, while middle hitter Jess Cicioni (sr. Frackville, PA/North Schuylkill) had seven. Defensive specialist Kelly O’Brien (fr. Mastic, NY/Eastport-South Manor) compiled 26 digs and setter Shona St. Angelo (so. Manorville, NY/Eastport-South Manor) had 38 assists.

For the Profs (6-13), outside hitter Katie Havlicek (fr. Midland Park, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) registered nine kills and eight digs. Setter Chrissy McKay (sr. Paramus, NJ/Paramus) tallied 16 assists and nine digs.

Versus Richard Stockton (14-5), the set scores were 25-14, 25-21 and 25-18. Profs’ outside hitter Rachel Emig (so. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) recorded eight kills. Opposite Megan Mondelli (fr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) added six kills, nine digs and two blocks. Havlicek posted four kills and 14 digs. McKay contributed with 18 assists, five digs and two kills.
