ABINGTON, PA – The Rowan University women’s volleyball team defeated host Penn State Abington, 3-0 in a nonconference match on Thursday night. The set scores were 25-7, 25-9 and 25-14.

Rowan improves to 13-16 on the season while Penn State Abington drops to 0-24 overall. For the Profs, outside hitter Katie Havlicek (fr. Midland Park, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) and middle blocker Chelsea Bowman (sr. Penns Grove, NJ/Park Bible Academy) each contributed with eight kills. Bowman registered three service aces and Havlicek had two. Opposite Megan Mondelli (fr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) compiled 22 assists, three digs and one ace. Libero Casey Roselle (jr. Sparta, NJ/Sparta) added eight digs and one service ace. Defensive specialist Sarah Betancourt (so. Harrington Park, NJ/Northern Valley Old Tappan) totaled four aces and three digs.

In the first round of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship Tournament, number five Rowan will play at the fourth seed William Paterson University on Tuesday, November 3 at 7 p.m. The semifinals will be held on Thursday, November 5 and the final is slated for Saturday, November 7.
