NEWARK, NJ – The Rowan University women’s soccer team had a 3-0 victory over Rutgers-Newark in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Monday.

The Profs, ranked fifth in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division III National Rankings, improve to 14-1-1 overall and 8-0 in the conference. Rowan has an 11 game win steak. The Scarlet Raiders have a 6-10-1 record with a 1-7 NJAC mark.

Forward Jess Babice (jr. Groveville, NJ/Steinert) led the Profs with one goal and one assist. Forward Veronica Rhea (so. Pennsauken, NJ/Paul VI) and midfielder Nina Fragoso (so. Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) added one goal apiece. Forward Melanie Wittenberger (fr. Tabernacle, NJ/Seneca) contributed with one assist.

Rowan out shot Rutgers-Newark, 25-2. Profs’ goalkeeper Kate Harman (sr. Laurel Springs, NJ/Sterling) made two saves for her second shutout. Goalkeeper Kat Renteria (so. North Bergen, NJ/Cliffside Park) stopped 10 shots for the Scarlet Raiders.

Babice picked up a loose ball near midfield and scored on a breakaway at 17:04 in the first period. Fragoso found the net on a cross from Babice at 63:22 in the second. Wittenberger sent a cross into the box and Rhea kicked it into the goal at 74:02.

Rowan hosts Rutgers-Camden in its regular season finale on Wednesday, October 28 at 7 p.m.
