GLASSBORO, NJ – Back Randy Kohr scored two goals to lead Rowan University to a 3-0 victory over New Jersey City University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Tuesday night.
The Profs are 10-4-2 overall and 4-1-2 in the conference. The Gothic Knights have a 6-8-2 record with a 0-6-1 NJAC mark.
Midfielder Jason Choma (sr. Belford, NJ/Middletown N.) put Rowan up, 1-0 at 34:30 in the first period. Forward Mike Pascale (sr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) sent a long cross to Choma and he kicked it passed the goalie. At 41:19, Kohr (jr. Marmora, NJ/Ocean City) headed in a corner to give the Profs a 2-0 halftime lead. Midfielder Zach Zahrend (so. Seaville, NJ/Ocean City) and Choma each picked up an assist.
In the second period, Kohr scored his second goal at 79:28. Midfielder Phil Mora (so. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) sent a corner kick into the box and Kohr knocked it into the upper right corner of the net.
New Jersey City took 16 shots and Rowan had 15. Profs’ goalkeeper Charlie Cunliffe (jr. Lakewood, NJ/Lakewood) made six saves for his sixth shutout of the season. Goalkeeper Justin Grant (jr. Montclair, NJ/Montclair) stopped four shots for the Gothic Knights.
Rowan’s game at New York University scheduled for Wednesday, October 21 has been cancelled. The Profs return to action at home on Saturday, October 24 at 7 p.m. against NJAC opponent Rutgers-Newark.
