Rowan Shuts Out New Jersey City, 1-0

JERSEY CITY, NJ – Midfielder Evynn Wright scored the game-winning goal in the second half to lead Rowan University to a 1-0 win over New Jersey City University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Monday.

After a scoreless first half, Rowan midfielder Nina Fragoso (so. Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) sent a free kick into the box that was stopped by Gothic Knights’ goalkeeper Kelly Reilly (jr. Pennsville, NJ/Pennsville Mem.). Reilly dropped the ball and Wright kicked it into the back of net at 61:39.

The Profs improve to 13-1-1 overall and 7-0 in the conference. New Jersey City has a 10-7 record with a 2-5 NJAC mark.

Rowan took 25 shots, while New Jersey City had 14. Profs’ goalkeeper Kate Harman (sr. Laurel Springs, NJ/Sterling) made seven saves for her first career shutout. Reilly started for the Gothic Knights and stopped six shots in 70:31. Goalkeeper Catherine Hensley (fr. Dripping Springs, TX/Dripping Springs) turned away three shots in 19:29.
