COLLEGEVILLE, PA – The Rowan University men and women’s indoor track teams competed at the Frank Colden Invitational on Saturday. The men took seventh place overall out of 20 teams, while the women were 15th out of 20 schools. The meet was held at Ursinus College.
Aaron Braxton (so. Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) won the shot put with a throw of 52’ 8” (16.05 meters). It marked the second straight week that Braxton had a NCAA provisional throw. His top mark was 54’ 7.5” (16.65 meters). The NCAA provisional requirement is 51’ 0” (15.54 meters) and the automatic is 55’ 8.25” (17 meters). Anthony Witter finished in third place with 47’ 3” (14.40 meters). Joe Minch (sr. Yardville, NJ/Bordentown Reg.) took third place in the 1,000 meter run with a time of 2:36.41. Kevin Gauntt (fr. Marlton, NJ/Seneca) was third in the 55 meter hurdles in 8.15.
In the 400 meters, Chima Nwosu (sr. Ewing, NJ/Ewing) came in fourth place (52.06). Bryan Pittman (sr. New Brunswick, NJ/New Brunswick) was seventh in the 55 meters (6.74), while Andrew Vasta (so. Randolph, NJ/Randolph) finished eighth in the 3,000 meter run (9:15.37). The 4x800 relay of Minch, Phil Dunn (jr. Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway Reg.), Michael Rivera (so. Old Tappan, NJ/Northern Valley) and Nwosu took fourth place with a time of 8:44.18.
For the women, Dannielle Warren (so. Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) had a fourth place finish in the long jump with 16’ 4.5” (4.99 meters). She was also sixth in the 55 meter hurdles in 9.06. Raye Teyssier (jr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) finished 10th in the pole vault with 9’ 0.25” (2.75 meters). Ali Briggs (so. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) took 13th place in the shot put with a throw of 32’ 8.25” (9.96 meters).
Rowan will participate in the Thomson Invitational at the University of Delaware in Newark, DE on Saturday, February 10 at 10 a.m.
