Rowan Loses First Two Matches At Greyhound Premiere Invitational

BETHLEHEM, PA – The Rowan University women’s volleyball team opened the season at the Greyhound Premiere Invitational on Friday at Moravian College. In the first match, Moravian defeated Rowan, 3-0 and in the second, Alvernia had a 3-1 victory.

Moravian had game scores of 30-18, 30-11 and 30-20. Alexis Louie (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) led Rowan with six kills and seven digs while Karen Ramirez (fr. Bogota, NJ/Bogota) contributed with four kills and 11 digs.

Against Alvernia, Louie totaled seven kills, 13 digs and two blocks. Ramirez added eight kills, 19 digs and one service ace. Alvernia won the first game, 30-15 and Rowan took the second, 30-28. Alvernia came back to win two straight games, 30-11 and 30-25.

In the second day of the invitational on Saturday, Rowan will play Albright College at 9 a.m. and DeSales University at 1 p.m.
