Ramapo Defeats Rowan, 3-0

MAHWAH, NJ – The Ramapo College women’s volleyball team posted a 3-0 victory over visiting Rowan University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) match on Tuesday.

Ramapo won with game scores of 30-20, 30-15 and 30-18. The Roadrunners improve to 14-9 overall and 4-3 in the NJAC. The Profs are 6-13 overall and 2-5 in the conference.

Outside hitter Kaitlin Smith (fr. Westwood, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) led the way for Ramapo with 15 kills and six service aces. Outside hitter Maureen Hennecke (fr. Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) added 10 kills. Setter Ashley Cornett (jr. Hawthorne, NJ/Hawthorne) totaled 40 assists and libero Christine Simmons (jr. Upper Saddle, NJ/Northern Highlands) recorded a match-high 12 digs.

For Rowan, outside hitter Alexis Louie (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) had eight kills and five digs. Outside hitter Karen Ramirez (fr. Bogota, NJ/Bogota) added six kills and three service aces, while setter Chrissy McKay (fr. Paramus, NJ/Paramus) served up 13 assists. Outside hitter Theresa Pecoraro (jr. Cresskill, NJ/Cresskill) contributed nine digs.

Rowan is competing in the Susquehanna University Invitational in Selinsgrove, PA on Friday-Saturday, October 20-21. On Friday, Rowan plays Catholic University at 6 p.m. and Susquehanna University at 8 p.m. On Saturday, Rowan faces York College (PA) at 11 a.m. and Richard Stockton College at 1 p.m.
