Lindsay Delaney enters her 18th season as Rowan’s head women’s lacrosse coach in 2025. The second longest tenured coach in the program’s history, she is also the Profs’ all-time leader in victories with 172.
Through 17 seasons, Delaney has compiled a 172-106 record and guided the Profs to six NCAA Championship appearances. Rowan has qualified for the NJAC Championship in all 10 years that it has been held, while the Profs have reached the conference final seven times.
The 2003 Rowan alum has seen her teams earn recognition on the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Squad 12 times, including the last nine consecutive seasons. Delaney has also coached 10 All-America and 66 All-Region Team honorees, as well as nine selections to the IWLCA Division III North-South All-Star Game.
In 2024, Rowan faced four nationally-ranked teams during the regular season and earned the second seed in the NJAC Tournament, where it advanced to the final for the fourth year in a row. Junior Molly Green earned the NJAC’s Midfielder of the Year award for the second time.
With a 14-5 overall record, the 2023 Profs tied the mark for the most victories under Delaney. Rowan went 4-1 in conference play to earn the second seed in the NJAC Tournament and reach the championship game. In addition to four All-Region selections, Molly Green became just the second Prof to be named the NJAC’s Midfielder of the Year.
Rowan's 2022 squad put together a six-game winning streak at the end of the year, to earn the second seed in the NJAC Tournament. The Profs, at 10-8 overall, went 5-1 in league play during the regular season and defeated Stockton to reach the championship game. Freshman Molly Green became the first player in school history to win the NJAC's Rookie of the Year award and was an All-Region First Team selection.
The Profs returned to action in 2021 after having only played five games in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. In 2019, the Profs went 11-7 overall and reached the NJAC final for the second year in a row, while finishing the year ranked eighth in the East Region. Among the highlights of the season was midfielder Taylor Gretz becoming the third player in the program’s history, and the first under Delaney, to be named to the IWLCA All-America First Team.
The 2018 team set a school record for victories with a 14-4 record and made a return to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament with its first berth since 2013, while serving as the host for the first and second rounds. The Profs also reached the NJAC title game and established a new school record with 277 goals on the year.
Rowan’s 2016 and 2017 squads each qualified for the NJAC Championship Tournament while posting identical 11-6 records. The previous two seasons saw the Profs reach the NJAC final in the first two years of the conference tournament, with the 2015 team going 10-7 and the 2014 squad compiling a 13-5 record. With an11-6 record, Rowan’s 2013 team earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship, marking its fifth in six years. The Profs posted identical 10-7 records in 2012 and 2011, with the 2011 squad earning an NCAA Tournament bid.
Delaney was named the NJAC Coach of the Year in 2010 as she guided Rowan to its first NJAC Championship with a 5-0 record in conference play. The Profs, with an 11-6 mark, participated in the NCAA Tournament, the third in the coach’s first three years, as did the 2009 team, which went 8-9.
A three-year assistant at Rowan, Delaney became the program’s eighth head coach in 2008, replacing her mentor, Mary Marino, who retired after 20 years at the helm. Delaney wasted no time in getting the Profs back into the NCAA Tournament, guiding her inaugural team to a 13-5 record and post-season berth.
Delaney, formerly Hanson, was a two-sport student-athlete at Rowan, and a four-year letterwinner in lacrosse. A defender, she was named to the IWLCA Metro All-Region first team in 2002 and 2003, and chosen as the 2003 Division III Defensive Player of the Year by the Women’s Lacrosse Club of South Jersey. Delaney was named to the ECAC Metro All-Star Team and chosen to play in the IWLCA North-South Senior All-Star game that year.
She also played for three years on the Profs’ field hockey team (2000-02) and was a team co-captain for Rowan’s 2002 NCAA champion squad that put together an undefeated season at 21-0. During her career the Profs also won two NJAC titles (2000, 2002), reached the national semifinals in 2000 and the national quarterfinals in 2001.
She started her coaching career at the high school level as an assistant coach at Haddonfield in field hockey, and at Cherry Hill East in lacrosse before returning to her alma mater, Collingswood as the freshman field hockey coach.
Delaney, who lives in Haddon Heights, NJ, with her husband, Dan, and son, Connor, graduated from Rowan with a bachelor’s degree in history with secondary education certification and received her master’s degree in higher education administration in 2008.
