Veronica Alferez (fr. Elmwood Park, NJ/Elmwood Park Mem.) helped lead the women’s swimming & diving team to the team title at the Metropolitan Championships (Feb. 16-18). She took third (2:11.53) in the 200 butterfly and fourth in the 400 individual medley (IM) (4:36.25) and 200 backstroke (2:09.04). Alferez’s time in the 400 IM broke the University record (4:36.82), which was held by Kate Winters (Dec. 2009). She swam on the third place 800 free relay (7:51.90) and fourth place 200 free relay (1:38.73). Alferez was selected the Rookie of the Meet and the NJAC Rookie of the Week.
