Max Tyburski (jr. Burke, VA/Lake Braddock Secondary) guided the men’s swim team to a third place finish out of 18 teams at the Metropolitan Championships (Feb. 17-19). He earned NCAA B cuts in three different individual events. Tyburski came in second in the 100 freestyle (45.13), tied for second in the 50 free (20.60) and placed third in the 100 butterfly (49.92). The NCAA B cuts are 46.04, 20.93 and 50.67 respectively. He swam on the second place 400 medley (3:22.70), 400 freestyle (3:01.85) and 800 freestyle (6:48.46) relays. All three relays were NCAA B cuts and broke the University records (400 medley: NCAA B cut 3:25.98, Rowan record 3:24.91; 400 freestyle: NCAA B cut 3:05.20, Rowan record 3:07.10; 800 freestyle: NCAA B cut 6:53.02, Rowan record 6:59.09). Tyburski was also part of the third place 200 freestyle relay (1:23.05), which was a NCAA B cut (1:23.51). Tyburski was chosen the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Swimmer of the Week for the third time this year.
