JoAnne Bullard, Psy.D., CSCS, an Assistant Professor in the Health and Exercise Science Department at Rowan University, serves as the school’s NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR).

In 2020, she was chosen as the Division III representative to the NCAA’s FAR Legislative Committee, and was also selected as the Division III representative to the NCAA's FARA Executive Committee.

She is the Coordinator of the Psychology of Sport and Exercise Minor and the Coordinator of the Certificate of Undergraduate Study programs for Psychology of Sport and Exercise and Sport Management at Rowan. Bullard was the principal investigator of a research team awarded the 2017-28 NCAA Innovations in Research & Practice Grant to enhance the overall well-being, mental health practices, and professional development among Division III student-athletes and presented research data at the 2018 NCAA Convention.

More recently, Bullard is the principal investigator of a research team awarded the 2020-21 Association for Applied Sport Psychology research grant to examine mindfulness-based interventions for injured Division III student-athletes. Bullard’s research interests involve the mind-body balance of student-athletes and performance, motivation, and anxiety in athletics and academics. She has recently finished researching the impact of COVID-19 on the well-being of Division III NJAC student-athletes with the findings published in the September 2020 edition of NACDA’s Athletics Administration magazine.

As a former Division III student-athlete at Ursinus College, Bullard recognizes the need for student-athletes to have advocates in academics. Bullard initiated Coaches in the Classroom during Division III Student-Athlete week at Rowan and plans to be innovative with future campus programming to bridge the gap between academics and athletics. Her main area of concern as a FAR include understanding student-athletes’ overall well-being, letting student-athletes know their concerns are heard and providing data-driven results to enhance their experience while in college and as they transition into their next phase.
